CMDB – Configuration Management database opportunity – permanent challenge in Brussels (Woluwe)
Junior candidate can be taken into consideration – ideally 2-5 years experience in large infrastructure environment and knowledge of ITIL

DIMENSION / CONTEXT / STAKES
1. Management of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB):
— Daily maintenance of the CMDB is to manage physical and logical components of our IT infrastructure and to manage the underlying links between those components.
— Promotion of the CMDB among the company
— Ensure the quality and accuracy of the data in a proactive way
— Identifiy the discrepancies between the reality and the content of the CMDB and bring the appropriate solutions
2. Technical analysis of Service Requests which are not available in our catalogue.
— Answer the requestor as quick as possible
— Coordinate together with the operational teams the activities to find as quickly as possible the right response to the demand of the client/end-user.
— Describe the necessary steps which are required to assure a good delivery of the service in line with the expectations of the client.
MAIN ACTIVITIES
The task consists of 2 parts:
- Management of the Configuration Management Database
- Technical analysis of incoming request.
Management of the Configuration Database:
- Track all changes that require an update in the CMDB
- Enter and maintain data in the CMDB
- Periodical reconciliation between the content and the reality
- Support other teams in order to help them to find the right information
Technical analysis of Service Requests:
- Detailed analysis of the requests
- Understand the needs of the end-user
- Implementation of the validated solution
- Inform the end-user about the solution and verify that the end-user accepts the solution.
- Document the different steps to provide the solution.
System Administration of the current tools used:
- For both tasks currently USPSD R6 is used.
- In the near future, the configuration management tasks will migrate to Argis R8.
- Create new workflows, users, groups in R6 and R11
- Contact point in case of incidents and problem.
- Takes initiative to solve operational issues.
PROFILE
Technical pre-requisites
- Higher education
- A broad knowledge of Information Technology Systems.
- Knowledge of the ITIL processes and their practical usage are a plus.
- Practical knowledge of Excel (VB/Pivot), Access or SQLServer

FREEDOM OF ACTION
The owner can
- Take the necessary actions in order to solve all discrepancies in the CMDB in order to reflect the reality of the current infrastructure.
- Accept or refuse Service Requests based on the technical aspects of the demand and the existing standards defined between the client.
- Communicate directly with the client to explain the reason of a refusal.
The owner needs to refer to N+1 in order to
- Accept or refuse Service Requests for which the delivery has a direct or indirect impact on the SLA.
- Change existing Configuration Management processes.
- To decide on the priorities of the different tasks
